Voice dictation

Speak a prompt in Home, chat, or global search instead of typing it.
2 min read · Reviewed

Use dictation to enter a search or AI prompt when speaking is faster than typing.

Start dictation from a prompt

  1. Open Home or a chat.
  2. Select the microphone icon (Start dictation) on the right side of the prompt.
  3. Speak your request.
  4. Select the red square (Stop dictation) when you are finished.
  5. Review the transcript before sending it.

While Bidlo is listening, the microphone icon becomes a red square and an animated waveform appears beside it.

Use the microphone in global search when you want to find a record or turn the spoken request into an AI question.

On desktop, press and hold ⌘ E on Mac or Ctrl E on Windows to open search and begin dictating. Release the shortcut to stop.

Review names and project identifiers

Before sending or opening a result, check:

  • company and person names;
  • route, county, and project identifiers;
  • dates, quantities, and units;
  • specialized company terminology.

Edit any transcription error in the text field.

Why isn’t dictation starting?

Check whether your browser has permission to use the microphone for Bidlo. Dictation cannot transcribe speech until that permission is allowed.
