Attachments & mentions
Add a file or reference a Bidlo document when your question depends on a specific source.
Choose an attachment or a mention
Use the option that matches where the information lives:
- Add file uploads a file with the current prompt.
- Add Context references an existing Bidlo document or record.
- Typing
@opens the same context search inside the prompt.
An attachment is useful for a file that is not already available as the Bidlo record you need. A mention is useful when the source already lives in your workspace and should remain connected to its Bidlo identity.
Attach a file
- Open a chat prompt.
- Select the
+menu. - Select
Add file. - Choose the file.
- Check that the file appears with the prompt.
- Enter the question you want answered from that file.
- Send the message.
If an upload fails, the prompt keeps the attachment so you can retry or remove it.
Mention a Bidlo document or record
- Place the cursor where you want to add the reference.
- Type
@, or select+and thenAdd Context. - Enter part of the document or record name.
- Choose the matching result.
- Add the task you want Bidlo AI to complete.
- Send the message.
The reference appears in the prompt before the message is sent.
Make the request specific
Tell Bidlo AI what to inspect and what to produce. For example:
Using @Project Name, list the bid date, owner, and three open questions.
When you attach several sources, name the role each source should play. Ask the assistant to say when a requested fact is not present rather than filling the gap with an assumption.

FAQs
Should I attach a file or mention a Bidlo document?
Attach a file when the source is on your device. Use an @ mention when the source already exists as a Bidlo page, record, or document.
Does mentioning a document change who can access it?
No. A mention identifies context for the chat; it does not change the document’s visibility or permissions.
