Learn the words Bidlo uses for your workspace, structured data, and tools so you can find the right place to work.

Start with the essential terms

Most work in Bidlo starts with a page or a record. In this guide, a record means an item in a collection; Bidlo may also describe the opened item as a document:

  • A page gives work a place in the workspace. It can hold written content, a view, or other useful material.
  • A record is one item your team tracks, such as one project, contractor, or facility. It belongs to a collection and uses that collection's fields.

A record can open as a full page, but it is still part of a collection. That collection relationship is what distinguishes a record from a general workspace page.

For structured data, remember this sequence:

Collection → record → field → view A collection defines a kind of information. A record represents one item, fields hold its details, and a view presents the records for a particular job.

For example, a Projects collection might contain one record for each project.

Fields such as bid date, status, and location describe each project. A table can show detailed rows while a board groups the same project records by status.

Understand where work lives

Team and workspace

A team is a group of people in Bidlo. Each team has a workspace with its own pages, structured data, chats, apps, flows, and membership.

If you belong to more than one team, only one workspace is active at a time.

Switching teams opens a different workspace; it does not move or copy content between them.

Public page and private page

A public page is available to your team. A private page is personal and restricted to you.

The sidebar sections are labeled public and private. In SettingsPreferences, the controls that show or hide those sections are named Public pages and Private pages. Your access and role still determine which content and actions are available to you.

Favorite

A favorite is a shortcut to a page you want close at hand. Selecting Add to favorites adds the page to Favorites; it does not create another copy.

Trash

Trash holds deleted pages that are available to restore.

Understand structured data

Collection

A collection defines one kind of repeatable information, such as projects, contractors, or facilities. Records in a collection share the same field structure.

Choose the collection based on what each record represents, not how you want the records to look. Use a view when you need a different presentation of the same records.

Record

A record is one item in a collection. One project in a Projects collection is one record.

When you open a record, you can review the fields that describe it. Editing the record updates the underlying item wherever it appears.

Field

A field holds one kind of detail on records in a collection. Bidlo includes field types for text, numbers, tags, dates, people, checkboxes, locations, and relations, among others.

A relation is a field that connects a record to records in another collection. For example, a relation can connect a project record to its contractor record.

View

A view presents records from a collection in a layout suited to a particular task. Available layouts include Table, Board, Map, Gallery, Timeline, Calendar, Chart, and Dashboard.

Views can use different fields, filters, sorts, and groups without copying the records. If two views include the same record, editing it changes the underlying item while each view keeps its own display choices.

Glossary

The Glossary is your workspace reference for collections and their fields.

Open Settings, then select Glossary under Data to browse the definitions your team uses.
