Team settings

Update team identity and understand the access consequences of leaving or deleting a team.
2 min read · Reviewed

Use General settings to keep the team's name and icon recognizable. Treat the danger-zone actions as separate account-lifecycle decisions.

Update the team name or icon

You need the team access required to manage these settings.

  1. Open SettingsGeneral.
  2. Edit Team name. The current field allows up to 65 characters.
  3. Under Icon, select Edit to upload an image or choose an emoji.
  4. Confirm the updated identity in the sidebar.

The icon can also appear in team notifications, so choose one teammates can recognize at a small size.

Leave a team

Leave team removes your access to the team and its content, including pages you created inside that team. Before leaving, confirm that the team has another appropriate owner or administrator and that any work you are responsible for has been handed off.

Leaving is not a way to hide a team temporarily.

Delete a team

Delete team permanently deletes the team and its pages and files. Use it only when the team itself should cease to exist and after the required people have confirmed the decision.

Find the team ID

The General page also shows Team ID. Copy it when support or an approved integration asks you to identify the workspace. Do not treat it as an API key.

FAQs

Why can’t I change the team name, icon, or other settings?

You must be a team Owner or Admin to change the team name, icon, or other settings. If the controls are unavailable, ask an owner or admin to make the change or update your role.

What is the difference between leaving and deleting a team?

Leaving removes only your access to the team and its content. Deleting permanently removes the team, including its pages and files, and should be used only after the decision and handoff have been confirmed.
