Role Description

Bidlo is seeking a Jr. Full Stack Engineer to help build and improve software for heavy civil contractors. You will contribute to customer-facing features, fix bugs, and develop your skills across the frontend, backend, and database with guidance from more experienced engineers.

This is one of two junior engineering openings with the same responsibilities and qualifications. We welcome candidates whose experience comes from an early engineering role, internships, coursework, open-source contributions, or substantial personal projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement clearly scoped features and improvements using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Help build and maintain backend endpoints and database queries with guidance from the team.
  • Reproduce and fix bugs, including interface, validation, and data-handling issues.
  • Write appropriate tests and check changes across relevant user flows.
  • Participate in code reviews, apply feedback, and ask questions when requirements or tradeoffs are unclear.
  • Document your work and communicate progress, blockers, and what you have learned.
  • Learn and use current AI tools for development, debugging, and testing with guidance from the team, and review and validate their output.
  • Build an understanding of contractors' workflows so your changes solve practical customer problems.

What Success Looks Like

  • You deliver small, useful improvements with support and gradually take on more complex work.
  • Your changes are readable, tested appropriately, and responsive to code review feedback.
  • You can investigate problems methodically and communicate when you need help.
  • You develop confidence working across the product without sacrificing care for customer data or reliability.

Requirements

  • College graduate or graduating soon. We are flexible on this and welcome candidates who have developed their abilities through an alternative education path, self-directed learning, or practical experience. No specific degree subject, prior professional engineering experience, or experience with a particular technology stack is required.
  • Bonus points, not a requirement: Previous experience working in construction, including internships, field work, estimating, or work with contractors.

What We Value

We are especially interested in people who are familiar with current AI tooling and processes and enjoy keeping up with how they are changing software development. Experience using AI coding assistants or agents to learn, build, debug, or test is a plus; you will continue developing these skills with support from the team.

Compensation

  • Annual base salary: $70,000–$95,000 USD.
  • Final salary within this range will reflect relevant skills, experience, and the scope of the role.
